Seasons Part II

Coloured Steps

[Make sure to check out Part I if you haven’t already…]

Patterns: Normal, Hyper & Hypo

I use felts to colour highs, lows (uncoloured for normal) BGLs

At bottom-right I TOTAL the patterns.

Counting the times I see a pattern (eg low-to-high, high during night, etc.). 9 patterns in total

Step-by-Step

Below is the first 5 weeks of my summer season of BGLs. Looks like my BGLs are tracking high-ish.

I’ll talk about the left-side, then the right-side.

(GREEN) I measure BGLs during my usual day. My day is split into 6 rough pieces of pie.

From after I fall asleep to before I wake up, I make a best guess what my BGLs were up to.

(RED) BGL high when I wake up = I assume it was high in the early morning (when I was asleep).

(YELLOW) BGL high when I went to bed, I assume it was high in the late night (again, when I was asleep)

The LEFT is all about recording the colours

There are at least 9 different patterns I’ve identified:

1) Normal BGL all day

2) HYPO-to-normal (well-treated); 3) HYPO->overtreat; 4) Loong-HYPO; 5) Night-HYPO (worst)

6) HYPER-to-normal; 7) HYPER->overtreat; 8) Loooong-HYPER (daytime); 9) Loooong-HYPER (asleep)

The RIGHT is all about counting patterns from the LEFT

EG 1, 1st day, 1st week:

(PINK) 2x hypers went to normal.

(PURPLE) 1 hyper went a longer time.

EG 2, 1st day, 5th week:

(RED) 2x hypos went to normal.

(YELLOW) 1 hypo went long.

(BLUE) 1 hyper over-treated

Finally, I write the totals in the bottom box to get a summary (13 weeks would give a better picture than 5 weeks):

Those looong night hypers look like a problem – the long day ones are close behind. Good info to know.

Now, onto Part III!
