Spillover Effect

Un-Mellow Yellow

I was in my final year of university when the crazy thirst kicked in.

I measured. I wasn’t drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I was drinking nearly 4 gallons (it wasn’t all water). No sooner had I finished a glass than I was pouring myself another.

Of course, this meant I had to use the bathroom a lot. I found out later this was how my body was getting rid of excess sugar, since my (extreme lack of) insulin wasn’t doing it.

I thought I just had low willpower drinking so much, but after starting on injected insulin, it was like magic. I simply did not crave drinking very much anymore.

Shaking Up the Fanta Bottle

Sometimes I just really, really need to go.

I’ve read this happens with a BGL greater than 11 mmol/L (200 mg/dL).

Now if I get a weird urge to pee, it’s a reminder to me to check my BGL. It might just have drifted too high.
